Department of Mathematics and Mechanics

Composition

The Department of Mathematics and Mechanics is composed of a group of researchers whose main interest is applied mathematics. The common language of the department is that of differential equations. An essential aspect of applied mathematics that is cultivated here is the interaction it has with various scientific disciplines, which allows establishing a natural communication and provides conceptual frameworks that represent phenomena of physical, chemical, or biological origin, among other knowledge fields.

Disciplinary orientation

As an applied mathematics department, it has a strong connection to all areas of mathematics; develops and uses different tools in an original way to explain situations not accessible with the existing theory, so it also contributes to the generation of fundamental theory. This multidisciplinary vision of mathematics and other sciences has allowed the consolidation of a research department whose members have complementary specialties and who have incorporated a new cross-sectional way of thinking into their work methodology that allows them to work on different multi and transdisciplinary problems.
